Frequently asked questions
Is there really no watermark or time limit?
Really. Your browser records with its built-in MediaRecorder API and the file is assembled on your device — there is no server to impose limits or stamp watermarks.
Where does the recording go?
Into your browser’s memory, then to a file you download. It is never transmitted anywhere.
Why WebM and not MP4?
Browsers record natively to WebM. It plays in every modern browser and uploads fine to YouTube. Need MP4? Convert the file locally with our media converter.
Does it work on phones?
Screen capture (getDisplayMedia) is a desktop browser feature — use Chrome, Edge, or Firefox on a computer. Phones have built-in screen recorders instead.
Can it record system audio?
When you share a browser tab, Chrome and Edge can include the tab’s audio. Full system audio depends on your OS and browser.
