Frequently asked questions
Does my PDF or image leave my device?
No. PDF rendering, the English OCR model, and text recognition are served from this site and run in your browser. The optional aggregate event records only operation outcome and coarse size/page buckets—never filenames, document bytes, or extracted text.
Does this make a searchable PDF?
Not in this version. It extracts a reviewable .txt file. We do not claim searchable-PDF export until text placement and download quality are independently tested.
Can it read handwriting or complex tables?
Not reliably. It is designed for clear printed English. Handwriting, low-resolution photos, unusual fonts, columns, and complex tables need careful human review.
Why was a PDF page not OCRed?
If a page already has a readable text layer, the tool uses that more accurate text by default. Turn on “Force OCR” when the embedded text is wrong.
