02About this tool

How to use it.

  1. Choose one or many photos.
  2. Read what was hidden in them: location, camera, date, serial numbers, editing history.
  3. Download the clean copies. Each one is scanned again so you can see nothing is left.

Questions

Does it make the picture worse?

For JPG, PNG and WebP the tags are cut out of the file and the picture itself is not touched or re-compressed. Other formats are drawn again on a canvas, which keeps the pixels and drops the tags.

Why does my cleaned photo still show the right way up?

A rotated phone photo is stored sideways with a flag that says how to turn it. We keep that single flag and nothing else.

Does it remove everything?

It removes EXIF, GPS, XMP, IPTC, comments, time stamps and extra data after the picture. It does not change what is visible in the picture: a street sign or a face is still there.
